PRACTICAL STEPS TOWARDS OPTIMISTIC LIVING

1. Practicing Gratitude:

Have you seen this trend on Reels, YouTube shorts or TikTok where they ask what colour was something in the background when there was a very distracting thing going on in the forefront? It's a great example of how we only see what we focus on. This is the reason practicing gratitude is powerful because it makes you focus on the good things in life. The more you practice it, the more you train yourself to see the positive in life which inspires hope and optimism.

2. Mindfulness:

Mindfulness helps you stay in the present moment and appreciate it to the fullest instead of worrying about what went wrong in the past or what's coming in the future. For example, when you indulge in mindful eating where you appreciate the smell, textures and flavours of the food, you detach from life problems and get to enjoy your food to the fullest.

3. Setting Realistic Goals:

We have big aspirations for our lives, which is not bad in itself. But since we think in the big picture, we often find it too overwhelming and too difficult to achieve. When you set realistic goals, break them down into smaller steps and appreciate small victories along the way, it lets you enjoy the process and reinforces an optimistic mindset.

4. Positive Self-Talk:

Watch how you talk to yourself. If you are telling yourself things that you will not tell a friend you care about, then it's time you change that. Use affirming and encouraging words just like you would with a friend going through the same things as you.

Optimism and hope have a ripple effect on our well-being. It creates a foundation for a fulfilling life and contributes to improved mental and emotional well-being.
